Group Therapy
At Into the Deep, we offer here-and-now process groups.
These are not classes, skills-based groups, or advice-driven discussions. Group therapy here is experiential. The work happens through real interactions between members as they unfold in the room.
A process group focuses on how people relate in the present moment. How you speak, how you hold back, how you react to others, how closeness, tension, or misunderstanding develops. Rather than seeing these moments as distractions, the group treats them as meaningful information. Over time, the group becomes a living relational space where patterns that often operate outside awareness can be noticed, explored, and understood.
Instead of primarily talking about life outside the group, members are invited to pay attention to what they are feeling in the group itself. This can include feelings toward other members, toward the facilitator, or toward the group as a whole. When explored carefully and respectfully, these experiences can lead to deeper self-awareness, reduced isolation, and lasting changes in how one relates to others.
Groups are intentionally small and facilitated by experienced therapists who attend closely to the emotional and relational dynamics in the room. The focus remains on the here and now, while respecting each member’s pace and capacity for engagement.
We run groups in person at our office near Yonge and Eglinton and online. Groups are either fully in person or fully online; they are not hybrid.
“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.”

Group Therapy FAQs
-
A process group is a form of group therapy that focuses on real-time interactions between members. Rather than receiving advice or strategies, participants learn by noticing and exploring what happens between people in the group, including emotions, reactions, patterns, and relationships as they unfold.
-
A closed group means that once the group begins, no new members are added. Everyone starts together and stays together for the duration of the group. This consistency helps build trust, safety, and a shared sense of history, which supports deeper and more meaningful work over time.
-
Group therapy is a weekly, 6-month to year-long commitment depending on the group, with some planned breaks throughout the year. This length is intentional. Process-oriented group work takes time, and depth develops through continuity rather than quick fixes.
-
We offer both in-person groups (at our Yonge and Eglinton office) and online groups. Groups are not hybrid. If you join an in-person group, it remains in person. If you join an online group, it remains online for the full duration.
-
Sessions are 90 minutes in length.
-
The cost is $85 per week. Group fees are charged weekly for the full duration of the group. Because the group depends on consistency and shared commitment, fees remain the same even if you need to miss a session.
-
Group therapy can be a good fit for people who want to better understand their relational patterns, feel less alone, and explore their emotional life in connection with others. It is especially helpful for those who are open to reflection, curiosity, and learning through shared experience.
-
Many extended health insurance plans include coverage for therapy services. When therapy is covered, group therapy is often eligible as well, though coverage varies by insurer and individual plan. We recommend checking directly with your insurance provider to confirm your specific benefits. We provide receipts that can be submitted for reimbursement where coverage applies.
