ADHD

ADHD isn’t a character flaw; it’s a difference in how attention, motivation, and energy are regulated.

It can look like time-blindness, distractibility, forgetfulness, impulsivity, and overwhelm—and also creativity, intuition, and deep hyperfocus when something matters. Many adults carry shame from school or work experiences where their strengths weren’t seen. In our integrative depth approach, we pair practical supports with work at the roots: loosening harsh narratives, updating old rules about worth and productivity, and shaping a life that fits your brain. Care is collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming, trauma informed, and anti-oppressive.

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believe it is stupid”
— Albert Einstein

What the work can include, blending practical and depth pathways:

  • Tune into personal rhythms for attention/energy; place demanding tasks when your brain is most “on,” and protect recovery time

  • Build “minimum viable” systems—simple calendars, reminders, visual cues, task chunking, body-doubling—that are easy to start and keep

  • Reduce friction with environment and transition design (clear work zones, pack-up rituals, cues for switching tasks)

  • Separate ability from character; tend to school/work wounds and soften shame

  • Explore early roles (the “too much” kid, the “underachiever,” the fixer), sensitivity to rejection, and perfectionism; retire what no longer serves

  • Align work and life with strengths—interest, novelty, purpose—so hyperfocus helps rather than hijacks

  • Set cleaner boundaries at home and work to prevent overcommitment and last-minute crises

  • Strengthen relationship communication: name needs, co-plan, and practise repair after missed cues or lateness

  • Care for co-occurring stress, anxiety, or burnout with humane pacing, rest, movement, and nourishment

  • Honour identity, culture, and access—how racism, sexism, ableism, or class shape diagnosis, stigma, and support—and choose responses that fit your reality

  • Coordinate assessment and, if desired, medication options with your family doctor or psychiatry; therapy continues alongside medical care

The aim isn’t to “fix” you; it’s less shame, more agency, and systems that make life workable and meaningful—on your terms.
